NY Jets news: Aaron Rodgers IR update, Jets re-sign fan-favorite RB, Tim Boyle return
- Aaron Rodgers says he won't go on IR
- Jets sign Zonovan Knight
- Tim Boyle is inevitable
By Justin Fried
NY Jets quarterback Aaron Rodgers made his weekly appearance on The Pat McAfee Show on Tuesday and did his best to set the record straight after a damning report from The Athletic was released last week.
Rodgers clarified that he has no plans to be placed on the injured reserve, insisting he will not "go on IR without an injury." He then denied a report from NFL Network's Ian Rapoport that stated the four-time MVP had declined medical scans.
Rodgers maintains that he never declined medical scans and that he has a "great relationship" with the Jets' training staff. He claims to have known the "exact nature" of the hamstring injury he suffered in Week 4 against the Denver Broncos.
The future Hall of Famer continues to deny every new report that comes out about him. Whether his words should be taken at face value is ultimately up to the individual. Maybe every report is indeed fake or misleading — or maybe Rodgers isn't being 100% honest.

Jets sign Zonovan Knight to practice squad
Interim general manager Phil Savage made his first moves as Jets GM on Tuesday, making a pair of additions to the team's practice squad. The Jets signed wide receiver Easop Winston Jr. and running back Zonovan Knight to their practice squad while releasing offensive lineman Zack Bailey.
Knight is a name that should be very familiar to Jets fans, as the former NC State standout signed with the team as an undrafted free agent back in 2022. Nicknamed "Bam," Knight put together an encouraging rookie season with the Jets that included a franchise-record 103 yards from scrimmage in his NFL debut.
Knight rushed for 300 yards and a touchdown on 85 carries as a rookie before he was somewhat surprisingly released as part of final roster cuts the following summer. He'd soon sign on with the Detroit Lions, appearing in two games before suffering a season-ending shoulder injury.
Now, Knight is back with the Jets after he was released by the Lions this summer. He joins Kene Nwangwu as another running back on the Jets' practice squad.
Tim Boyle is inevitable
Former Jets quarterback Tim Boyle somehow continues to find ways to stay employed in the NFL. Despite his atrocious track record, Boyle has found his way onto another 53-man roster.
Boyle was signed to the New York Giants practice squad last week, just weeks after he was released by the Miami Dolphins. Four days later, the Giants signed him to their active roster following the demotion of Daniel Jones.
With Tommy DeVito dealing with an injury to his forearm, there's a chance Boyle could be active as the backup quarterback on Thursday when the Giants take on the Dallas Cowboys. Drew Lock is the only other QB under contract with the team.
Boyle appeared in two games for the Dolphins this season, completing 15-of-26 passes for 159 yards. Now, he could be set to return to primetime nearly one year to the day of his Black Friday start with the Jets a year ago.
