The NY Jets' roster is beaten and battered entering the team's Week 9 game against the Houston Texans. The team is dealing with a number of different injuries that will impact their game-day roster tonight.

The Jets enter this game desperate for a win following five consecutive losses that have plummeted the team to 2-6. Their season is on life support, and without a win tonight against Houston, the Jets might be forced to punt on 2024 before we've even reached November.

The Jets ruled out six total players on their final injury report for Week 9, although two of those players have since been placed on the injured reserve. Wide receiver Allen Lazard (chest) and defensive tackle Leki Fotu (knee) are no longer on the 53-man roster and will thus not be listed as inactive.

The team has also ruled out safety Tony Adams (hamstring), safety Ashtyn Davis (concussion), linebacker C.J. Mosley (neck), and right guard Alijah Vera-Tucker (ankle) for this game. They will all be inactive for tonight's game.

Cornerback Kendall Sheffield and rookie safety Jarius Monroe have been elevated from the practice squad for Week 9 as well. Sheffield and Monroe will provide extra secondary depth to a Jets team without their top three safeties.

Tight end Kenny Yeboah has also been activated from the 53-man roster and will make his season debut tonight. Yeboah replaces veteran Anthony Firkser, who was released, as the team's third tight end. Aaron Rodgers is dealing with multiple injuries but was not on the final injury report and will be active.

The Texans have also ruled out four of their own players for tonight's game. Safety Jimmie Ward (groin), offensive lineman Jarrett Patterson (concussion), running back Dameon Pierce (groin), and linebacker Azeez Al-Shaair (knee) are all out tonight.

Who are the official inactives for both the Jets and the Texans tonight? We've got you covered.

Full inactives list for NY Jets in Week 9

  • RB Israel Abanikanda
  • SAF Tony Adams
  • SAF Ashtyn Davis
  • LB C.J. Mosley
  • CB Qwan'Tez Stiggers
  • OL Alijah Vera-Tucker
  • OT Carter Warren

The Jets will be without each of their top three safeties in tonight's game. Chuck Clark is on IR and Tony Adams and Ashtyn Davis are ruled out with injuries and listed as inactive.

Expect Isaiah Oliver and Jalen Mills to start at safety in their place. The Jets also elevated Kendall Sheffield and undrafted rookie Jarius Monroe from the practice squad for Week 9.

Monroe gives the Jets a third safety while Sheffield provides extra depth at nickel cornerback. Rookie cornerback Qwan'Tez Stiggers is a healthy scratch for the first time this season. Sheffield provides more nickel flexibility behind Michael Carter II with Oliver, the usual backup nickel, starting at safety.

Linebacker C.J. Mosley is inactive with a neck injury. Quincy Williams and Jamien Sherwood will start in his place in the nickel while Chazz Surratt will fill in as the third starter in the base defense. Marcelino McCrary-Ball was promoted to the 53-man roster this week and gives the Jets another backup linebacker with Mosley out.

Starting right guard Alijah Vera-Tucker will miss a second consecutive game with an ankle injury. Jake Hanson will start in his place with the newly-signed Alec Lindstrom serving as the lone backup interior offensive lineman.
