The NY Jets have officially entered the second round of interviews for their general manager and head coach positions, and the team’s direction is becoming increasingly evident.

Multiple reports confirm that the Jets will host Detroit Lions defensive coordinator Aaron Glenn for his second interview with the team on Tuesday. Glenn isn't the only individual meeting with the Jets on Tuesday, though.

Reports also confirm that Washington Commanders assistant general manager — and longtime Lions executive — Lance Newmark will also interview for a second time with the Jets tomorrow.

Glenn and Newmark, who crossed paths in Detroit, have been widely regarded as a logical head coach-general manager duo for the Jets. With both named as the only announced finalists so far, the Jets’ plans seem clear at this time.

Aaron Glenn and Lance Newmark emerging as odds-on favorite candidates for NY Jets

Glenn has been heavily connected to the Jets job for weeks and is seen by many as the favorite to land the position. The Jets aren't alone in their pursuit of the former Pro Bowl cornerback, however.

The New Orleans Saints are also expected to host Glenn for a second interview on Wednesday and are believed to be a strong contender as well. Glenn notably spent five years as the Saints defensive backs coach and is said to have a lot of fans in that building.

Newmark spent over 25 years with the Detroit Lions organization, eventually earning the role of senior director of player personnel before he left to join Adam Peters as the Commanders' assistant general manager last offseason.

The longtime NFL executive has also interviewed with the Las Vegas Raiders for their vacant general manager position and was seen as a natural fit if they hired Ben Johnson. However, with Johnson now heading to Chicago, Newmark emerges as a strong candidate for the Jets.

All signs point to a Glenn-Newmark pairing being the Jets' top choice for their next head coach-general manager duo, though that plan is far from certain. The Jets will have to beat out the Saints for Glenn if they're to make this dream a reality.

While the Jets appear to be narrowing in on Glenn and Newmark, nothing is set in stone. The next few days could be pivotal in shaping the future of the franchise.
