The NY Jets, because they are incapable of operating like a normal NFL team, decided that losing by just one score against an unbeaten Minnesota Vikings team in London was grounds for them to make a change at head coach. The Robert Saleh era is officially over in New York.

Saleh was relieved of his duties Tuesday morning, which led to defensive coordinator Jeff Ulbrich taking over as the interim head coach. This could be a major disruption for the Jets, who are currently trying to trade for Las Vegas Raiders wide receiver Davante Adams.

It is fair to wonder if Adams has any interest in coming to the Jets after the Saleh firing. Is this team in flux? According to the latest rumors, the Jets are still full steam ahead as they try to secure No. 17 and complete his reunion with Aaron Rodgers.

According to NFL insider Jordan Schultz, Saleh's firing will not impact the Jets' interest in trading for Adams, as both parties are still just as interested in each other as they were before the firing. Rodgers is still a Jet, which means Adams wants to play for the Jets more than any other team.

NY Jets still interested in Davante Adams trade

The Jets don't have a pressing need at wide receiver. Garrett Wilson, while in a slight funk, is still a quality playmaker. When called upon, Mike Williams has made plays. Outside of a nightmare game against the Vikings, Allen Lazard has generally been well above what many expected from him this season.

Still, the Saleh firing shows the Jets, for better or worse, are going all-in on 2024. Adams would certainly help in that quest, as he is still a productive receiver with tons of gas left in the tank. However, the Jets will need to give up important draft capital while also eating a good chunk of Adams' salary.

While Rodgers is better than Zach Wilson, he hasn't been the Hall of Famer that he had been during his time with the Green Bay Packers. Adams can help cover up for his downward turn, but the Jets will need more than just him if they are going to get this season turned back around.

This move may be the last-gasp chance the Jets have at saving this season. Beyond 2024, which may not include Rodgers or Douglas if they miss the postseason, the Jets have very few certainties guaranteed.
