The NY Jets could go in one of many different directions with the No. 7 overall pick in the 2025 NFL Draft, but one area this team has consistently been projected to land in various NFL mock drafts is the defensive line. Quinnen Williams is amazing, but he can't do everything.
Aaron Glenn and Darren Mougey may have lucked out just a bit, as this year is regarded as an exceptionally deep class on the defensive line. There's a very real chance as many as ten defensive linemen end up being picked in the first round.
The Jets shouldn't wait too long to take advantage, however. If the top defensive tackle in this class ends up taking a slide to No. 7 overall, look for the Jets to be all over them as they try to find a player who can stay in the green and white for a decade.
A recent first-round NFL Mock Draft from Tommy Jaggi of Still Curtain has the Jets using the No. 7 overall pick on Michigan defensive tackle Mason Graham. Williams finally won't have to do everything on the interior anymore, as Graham could be a playmaker from the jump.
Jets draft Michigan DT Mason Graham in first-round NFL Mock Draft
Graham isn't the best athlete in the world at the defensive tackle spot, and he may not have the biggest ceiling in terms of pass rush upside, but there's a very good chance that Graham ends up establishing himself as the safest player in this entire class.
Graham is one of the best run-stuffing defensive tackles the draft has seen in years, as he is capable of eating up space, shedding blocks with ease, and using his raw power to overwhelm players who don't have the strength to stand toe-to-toe with him. Graham is a no-doubt Week 1 starter.
If Jermaine Johnson comes back healthy, the combination of Johnson, Williams, and Graham would give the Jets one of the best run-stuffing lines in the AFC. Though Will McDonald struggles to defend the run, his pass rush skills could help complete the revitalized Jets defensive line.
Graham is such an enticing prospect that New York might be willing to move up a few picks to acquire him. Everything about his profile as a player suggests that he will be a high-end starter in the pros for a decade, and Glenn should be all in on a player he can build his new defense around.
