The New York Jets are doing their homework on a number of Day 3 prospects in this year's NFL Draft, and one player they've met with on multiple occasions in recent months is Tennessee defensive tackle Tyre West.
The Jets hosted West on an official 30 visit last month and had a private lunch with the 23-year-old following his pro day on March 31, suggesting the team could be eying him as a potential target late in the 2026 NFL Draft.
West recently sat down with The Jet Press in an exclusive interview to discuss his meetings with the Jets, his football journey, and the NFL Draft process. Click here or scroll to the bottom of this page to see the video in its entirety.
West insisted that his meetings with the Jets have been "great," specifically noting that he's developed a relationship with defensive line coach Karl Dunbar, whom he first met at the Senior Bowl.

The Jets also had a 30 visit with West earlier this month and are said to be “very interested” in the Senior Bowl standout, per source.
Tyre West details his recent pre-draft meetings with the Jets
At 6-foot-2 and 287 pounds, West was used primarily as a defensive end at Tennessee, but many scouts project him as an interior lineman at the NFL level. West told The Jet Press he hopes to play inside in the NFL because it would create more “mismatches” for him.
The Georgia native spent four years at Tennessee, recording career highs with 7.5 tackles for loss and 4.0 sacks in 2025. West was never an every-down player in college, but his role grew each season, culminating in his most productive campaign as a senior.
The Jets bolstered their defensive line in free agency, signing defensive tackle David Onyemata along with edge rushers Joseph Ossai and Kingsley Enagbare. They join a unit that already includes the likes of Jowon Briggs, Harrison Phillips, T'Vondre Sweat, and Will McDonald.
Still, the Jets could use another versatile interior lineman to add depth to Aaron Glenn’s new-look defensive front, and West could be a player they target. He’s someone to watch on Day 3 or in undrafted free agency.
The Jets took a similar approach last year with former Fresno State safety Dean Clark, hosting him on a 30 visit before signing him as a UDFA shortly after the draft. West could follow a similar path if he goes undrafted.
