Micah Parsons won't be the only Packers Pro Bowler to miss Week 2 Jets matchup

The New York Jets seem to have a little bit of luck on their side when it comes to their Week 2 matchup against the Green Bay Packers. Not only will All-Pro pass rusher Micah Parsons miss the contest as he continues his ACL recovery, but Pro Bowl running back Josh Jacobs is likely to miss the contest as well, as he starts his season on the commissioner's exempt list.

Jacobs is currently under investigation by the NFL stemming from a May incident that has left him with two misdemeanor charges, per ESPN's Rob Demovsky. His initial court appearance is set for November 17. No suspension has been announced yet, but Jacobs is almost certainly out for Week 2.

For the Jets, they'll be facing a Packers team missing two of its best players on both sides of the ball. Parsons was one of the most dominant players in the NFL last season before tearing his ACL and was a first-team All-Pro despite missing the team's final three games.

Jacobs, on the other hand, wasn't as productive in 2025 as he had been in years past, but the Green Bay offense usually isn't the same unless he's the star of the backfield. Over two years with the Packers, he's run for 2,258 yards and 28 touchdowns, and the Jets don't have to worry about it.

The Packers were always going to be a tall task for the Jets, but it's almost a must-win for New York considering how their schedule is laid out in the first month of the season.

Yes, they visit the Tennessee Titans, who had a 3-14 record last season, but after that it's quite the gauntlet. They face Green Bay for their home opener, and then travel to the Detroit Lions and Chicago Bears in consecutive weeks, meaning they'll play three teams that had a winning record in 2025 three weeks in a row.

Detroit will be dealing with its own absences in Week 3, but still, for a team that has struggled so much in recent memory, it's a tough hand to be dealt to start the 2026 campaign. The schedule-makers did the Jets no favors.

If New York hopes to succeed early on, they'll have to capitalize on their first two games of the season, meaning they have to take care of business against the Titans and do the same at MetLife Stadium against a short-handed Packers squad.
