The New York Jets were in desperate need of a pass catcher heading into the 2026 NFL Draft, and they got one in Oregon tight end Kenyon Sadiq.
Despite there being a handful of wide receivers on the board in USC's Makai Lemon, Indiana's Omar Cooper Jr., and Washington's Denzel Boston, the Jets opted to add the 6-foot-3, 240-pound athletic specimen to their tight end room with Mason Taylor and Jeremy Ruckert.
The pick opens so many doors for the Jets and unlocks all kinds of different offensive sets for new offensive coordinator Frank Reich to utilize.
But what does Sadiq bring to the Jets individually, and what can fans expect from him in his rookie season?
Draft expert breaks down new Jets TE Kenyon Sadiq
FanSided's draft expert, Marcus Mosher, has some incredibly high praise for Sadiq and highlighted how he'll be useful in more ways than one for the Jets.
"Sadiq is one of the best athletes ever at the tight end position and that's because he looks more like a rocked-up wide receiver. He's got the right mentality for the position as he was a special teams demon for Oregon. He's still learning how to become a complete tight end, but he's uber talented and will have value right away on underneath routes because of his ability to make plays after the catch. "Marcus Mosher
At the NFL Scouting Combine, Sadiq wowed talent evaluators with his explosive athleticism. He ran a 4.39 40-yard dash and recorded a 43.5-inch vertical jump, along with an 11-foot-1-inch broad jump.
Of course, everyone looks good in shorts, and the real test will come when the games start. But for now, there's reason to be excited about the Sadiq pick.
At Oregon last year, Sadiq hauled in 51 receptions, 560 receiving yards, and eight touchdowns. It was a massive step up from his previous season, and he essentially doubled all of his stats.
We'll see how Reich and the new Jets offensive coaching staff utilize their new weapon, and if he can help take some pressure off of Garrett Wilson and Adonai Mitchell.
