Jets special teams getting snubbed from Pro Bowl is pure comedy

What a joke.

The New York Jets have been one of the worst teams in the NFL during the 2025 season, if not the absolute worst, but they can hang their hat on Chris Banjo's special teams unit emerging as a truly elite group.

Between Isaiah Williams and Kene Nwangwu both running kicks back for touchdown, deadeye greybeard Nick Folk fixing the kicking woes, and punter Austin McNamara booting some thunderous slams down the field, the Jets had four players worthy of some Pro Bowl love. They ended up with zero nominations, as is often the case for this franchise.

Williams, Folk, and McNamara were all shut out from Pro Bowl nominations. While Williams was named an alternate after Titans rookie Chimere Dike nabbed the returner spot, neither Folk nor McNamara was considered as even a possible alternate for the AFC despite their performances this year.

This is simply the result of the Jets' poor overall record coming back to bite them in the rear end, as based solely on how these players have performed, they should get the recognition they deserve, even though the Pro Bowl has lost its luster over the years.

Jets special teams stars unfairly snubbed for Pro Bowl

Williams has two return touchdowns this season between his duties running back punts and kicks, and he narrowly had a third taken out of his grasp against the Atlanta Falcons. What likely happened is the voters sorted by total return yards, saw Dike at the top, and gave him the nod based on that.

Folk has been just about the best kicker in the NFL this season. Despite being so old that he was once teammates with head coach Aaron Glenn in Dallas, Folk has missed just one field goal all season long. That kick came during a win against Atlanta that was secured by him drilling a game-clinching field goal as time expired.

McNamara, who won AFC Special Team Player of the Month for his punting performances in November, has been so excellent this season with pinning opposing teams inside the 20-yard line that he is, without question, one of the best players on this Jets roster, irrespective of position.

This is what happens when you're one of the worst teams in the league every single year. Even when production and overall impact warrant consideration for some bigger nominations, no one is going to take a look at the Jets' pathetic three-win season and believe some of their role players should be heralded as stars.
