The New York Jets have yet to announce their full 2026 undrafted free agent class, but one of the reported names has a chance to become the fan-favorite, feel-good story of the summer.
Nathan Voorhis, also known by his self-proclaimed “QB Killer” nickname, is heading to Florham Park after reportedly signing with the Jets. And yes, that's probably the coolest nickname for a pass rusher that you're going to find.
What makes this story even better is the hometown connection. Voorhis grew up in Stroudsburg, Pennsylvania, just over an hour from MetLife Stadium, and was a Jets fan long before he ever had a chance to suit up for the team. Now, he gets that opportunity.
Voorhis even shared a throwback photo of his younger self at a Jets game years ago shortly after the signing was announced, celebrating what feels like a full-circle journey for the young edge rusher.

Nathan Voorhis is the early favorite for Jets fan summer darling
But this isn’t just some feel-good story charity case. Voorhis was a genuine menace last year at Ball State.
The former UConn recruit broke out in a big way in his lone year at Ball State, finishing with 12 sacks and two forced fumbles while earning first-team All-MAC honors. It was a dominant season and the kind of production that forces teams to take notice despite his subpar physical traits.
Voorhis began his career at UConn, where he saw limited snaps across the 2022 and 2023 seasons. He then transferred to FCS-level Bryant in 2024, where he started to show flashes, including a stretch of five straight games with a sack. He then transferred to Ball State for his final collegiate season in 2025.
Voorhis plays with a relentless motor and has a quick first step, backed by strong testing numbers. But there are obvious concerns as well, of course. At 6-foot-2 and 251 pounds, he lacks the size and length typically required to consistently win against NFL offensive tackles.
He will face an uphill battle to find a home on the Jets' roster. The team's edge room is already crowded, featuring No. 2 overall pick David Bailey, Will McDonald, and free-agent additions Joseph Ossai and Kingsley Enagbare. Cracking the 53-man roster will be extremely difficult, and a practice squad spot feels like the more realistic outcome.
Still, Voorhis has some shades of ex-Jets pass rusher Bryce Huff to his game, and players like him tend to carve out roles by doing exactly what he did last year at Ball State — producing and competing at a high level.
Even if he does ultimately fall short of making the team, this is the kind of story Jets fans will most definitely rally behind this summer. A hometown kid, a sick nickname, and a relentless playing style are the quickest ways to win over the hearts of Jets fans.
