The NY Jets got off to about as chaotic and messy a start as one could have imagined in training camp, as starting quarterback Justin Fields left practice with a toe injury. The injury is expected to sideline him for a good chunk of training camp, but he likely won't miss a ton of time in the regular season.

The Jets' current QB depth chart consists of Tyrod Taylor as the backup and two unheralded undrafted free agents in Adrian Martinez and Brady Cook fighting for the QB3 role. As a result, the Jets may need to look into bringing one more veteran option into the fold.

Between either trading away some assets to acquire a vet or perusing the free agent market, the Jets won't be short on viable options.

3 veteran QBs Jets must pursue after Justin Fields injury scare

3. Joe Flacco

Flacco is projected to compete for the Cleveland Browns' starting quarterback job, but their young movement could force one of their two rookies into the spotlight and leave the 40-year-old without a job. The Jets have played host to Flacco in the past, and he may have one more year left in him.

While you couldn't find a more stylistically different quarterback when compared to Fields and Taylor, the old greybeard can still whip the ball around the field. If needed, Flacco could get enough consistency through the air to make the Jets a watchable product offensively.

2. Teddy Bridgewater

Bridgewater, who the Jets famously signed and traded after his catastrophic injury with the Vikings, has spent the last few years waffling between backing up and retiring to coach high school football. If he wants to play again, the Jets might be willing to carve out a role for him.

Bridgewater has a connection with both Glenn and Engstrand after backing up Jared Goff over the last two seasons with the Lions. Without needing to surrender assets, the Jets can bring in a reliable veteran that will avoid turnovers and give the coaching staff peace of mind.

1. Jameis Winston

Winston is likely not going to see the field very often for the New York Giants, as Russell Wilson is the starter, and the succession plan is already in place thanks to Jaxson Dart. Winston may end up moving across the MetLife locker room to join a Jets team that could give him a quicker route to playing time.

While Winston's chaotic style might go against an offensive philosophy built on ball control and avoiding mistakes, his strong arm and propensity for reeling off chunk plays down the field should make Garrett Wilson and the rest of the wide receivers happy if he ever gets into a game.
