Jets make flurry of roster moves ahead of preseason finale against Giants

The New York Jets signed three new players and waived three injured players on Sunday afternoon, a major flurry of moves entering the final week of the preseason.

Wide receiver Caullin Lacy, running back Sam Scott, and edge Nate Voorhis were among the incumbent Jets who were parted ways with, all dealing with individual injuries and were likely unable to practice.

In the wake of their departure, the Jets are bringing in three undrafted free agents who have spent various time with other teams throughout the offseason, including edge Anthony Dunn, running back Dominic Richardson, and safety Tanner Wall, per the team website.

All three will look to make a good impression this week, and possibly even in the Jets' final preseason game against the New York Giants, in hopes of sticking around in New York.

The addition of Richardson makes a lot of sense. New York is already incredibly thin at running back, with Breece Hall and Isaiah Davis sidelined for the remainder of the summer. The Jets are hoping to have both back by the time Week 1 rolls around.

Richardson will surely eat up some carries for the Jets in their preseason finale against the Giants. The former Tulsa standout will likely split time with Kene Nwangu and Chip Trayanum as they get deeper into the contest.

Scott, who had appeared in the Jets' last two preseason games against the Buccaneers and Steelers, amassed 27 yards on nine carries and hauled in two passes for 11 yards.

At wide receiver, the Jets already seemed to have their depth chart figured out, making Lacy an easy decision to make ahead of the final roster cutdown. Garrett Wilson, Adonai Mitchell, Isaiah Williams, Omar Cooper Jr., and Tim Patrick are all essentially locks to make the roster, with 2025 draft pick Arian Smith clinging to life at the sixth spot.

The addition in the defensive backfield makes a lot of sense as well, considering the number of injuries the Jets currently have at cornerback. Nahshon Wright and rookie D'Angelo Ponds have been out for the entire preseason, and undrafted free agent breakout star Mory Bamba is currently missing time with a knee ailment.

All in all, it will be tough for any of these new additions to make the 53-man roster. They're all arriving fairly late and won't have much time to get a grasp of the Jets' offense and defense.

Their best bet is to stand out enough and put some good tape on display in hopes of making the practice squad after the Jets finalize their 53-man roster.
