The New York Jets addressed several important needs along their roster this offseason, adding a starting quarterback, bringing in several much-needed playmakers, and practically overhauling their entire defense.
Their secondary should look entirely different in 2026, with the only holdover being starting cornerback Brandon Stephens. Minkah Fitzpatrick and D'Angelo Ponds should both bring a fresh outlook to an otherwise lacking backend.
Up front, the Jets have David Bailey and T'Vondre Sweat ready to add some juice to their defensive line. At linebacker, Demario Davis should bring some much-needed stability after Jamien Sherwood's up-and-down first season as captain.
But there's still one position group that the Jets didn't attack with the fullest of their capabilities, and if injuries pop up, it could spell doom for the entire offense.
Interior offensive line could still be a major concern for Jets per Rich Cimini
On an episode of the Jets Collective show, ESPN's Rich Cimini revealed his biggest concern with the current state of the Jets roster, despite their other major additions this offseason.
"I think the depth at tackle is okay. They have Mitchell as a backup. Max Mitchell's back on a one-year deal. They have Chukes Okorafor... I think the depth is a concern on the interior... But I feel a little more comfortable if they had another swing center/guard who had some experience."Rich Cimini
To Cimini's point, New York is one major injury away from having a problem on the interior of their offensive line.
Their three starters are solid. Dylan Parham, Josh Myers, and Joe Tippmann are good from left to right, but the depth isn't anything to feel great about.
Xavier Newman is the team's most experienced backup guard/center. An undrafted free agent with the Tennessee Titans in 2022, Newman has been with the Jets every year since 2023.
In the fifth round of the 2026 NFL Draft, the Jets selected Anez Cooper, a 6-foot-6, 350-pound guard from Miami. He's likely not starting caliber right now, but has a chance to develop under the right circumstances.
There's also Landon Young, the former New Orleans Saints offensive lineman, whom the Jets signed after a rookie minicamp tryout. He has experience at both guard and tackle, but isn't someone you would necessarily want as a starter.
It's possible a veteran shakes loose as training camp rolls around, possibly even around roster cut downs towards the end of August.
As of now, it seems like the Jets are fine with things as they are, for better or for worse.
