The New York Jets made an addition to their offense on Sunday afternoon, adding former New Orleans Saints offensive tackle Landon Young, per The Athletic's Zack Rosenblatt.

After spending the first five seasons of his career in New Orleans, Young participated in Jets rookie camp this past week, and obviously, New York liked what they saw.

The 2021 sixth-round pick has appeared in 56 games over his time in the league and has 12 starts under his belt. He has the versatility to play both guard and tackle. You probably don't want to see him on the field, considering that means one of your starters has gone down with injury, but he's valuable veteran depth nonetheless.

In a corresponding move, the Jets moved on from wide receiver Mac Dalena, freeing up an extra roster spot to sign Young.

Landon Young signing could spell doom for Jets' fringe offensive linemen

The Jets already have a handful of swing offensive linemen on their team who play the same type of role that Young does, and it could spell the end of their time in New York.

Back in March, the Jets re-signed offensive linemen Max Mitchell and Chukwuma Okorafor, both of whom spent 2025 in New York.

Mitchell, the Jets' 2022 fourth-round pick, has appeared in 46 games in four years, starting 17. Similar to Young, he's played at both tackle and guard, but has one less year of NFL experience.

New York also brought back their swing tackle from last season, re-signing Okorafor to a one-year deal. The former Pittsburgh Steelers third-round pick didn't play an offensive snap for the Jets in 2025, thanks to Olu Fashanu and Armand Membou staying remarkably healthy.

All this to say, the Jets may have one too many reserve offensive tackles on their hands, and all three are unlikely to be on the Week 1 roster.

There will certainly be a training camp competition to decide who will end up staying in New York for the remainder of the season.

Considering Young was the most recent addition, it may seem like he's got a good shot. But Okorafor and Mitchell both have more familiarity with the Jets coaching staff, so it's truly a toss-up.
