After a brutal 0-7 start, the New York Jets have finally shown signs of life, going 3-2 over their last five games, capped by a 27-24 win over the Atlanta Falcons on Sunday. They have done this even after trading Quinnen Williams and Sauce Gardner, which makes their small surge all the more unexpected.

Breece Hall still being on the roster is another surprise. Months of rumors suggested he might be moved at the deadline, yet he stayed put and has been a major part of the Jets’ sporadic success.

Whether the 2022 second-round pick remains in New York long-term is still uncertain, but he may have offered a clue about where his mindset is after Sunday’s victory.

Following the game, Aaron Glenn praised his team for refusing to quit, blocking out the noise, and staying committed to the journey ahead. It was classic coach talk on the surface, a response to the criticism that followed the franchise throughout the first half of the season. But it was also a genuine defense of his players as they push through a challenging year.

Hall reacted to a video of Glenn’s speech with a single dart emoji, a simple but pointed sign that he fully agreed with the message and where this team is trying to go.

Look, it is just an emoji on a tweet. It may not mean much at all, and it could simply be Hall agreeing with Glenn’s postgame message after an emotional walk-off win. The Jets have won three of their last five and are finally trending in the right direction, so the reaction might be nothing more than that.

But given the months of speculation surrounding Hall and the cryptic comments he made earlier this season, it is fair to wonder whether this is a subtle sign that he is buying into what Glenn and the new regime are building.

The fact that the Jets did not trade him at the deadline could also reflect some level of reassurance that he is part of their long-term plans, especially with the team able to apply a transition or franchise tag this offseason.

It's also important to note the state of the running back room. Braelon Allen has missed most of the season, and Isaiah Davis is the only real depth option behind Hall. The Jets can't afford to leave the position bare, regardless of how competitive they expect to be.

Hall is also still only 24 years old, and even with the short shelf life of NFL running backs, he should have several productive years ahead of him. The Jets may recognize that value.

Of course, everything could change in the offseason. The Jets could tag Hall and ultimately choose to trade him. But there may also be more to this small tweet than it seems. It could signal a willingness to stay and be part of the next iteration of this team, which will likely look very different by the time September rolls around.
