The New York Jets were humiliated in their home finale Sunday, suffering a 42–10 loss to the New England Patriots that was effectively over before the opening kickoff even occurred.

By the time the dust settled and the final whistle blew, Jets fans made their thoughts clear on the situation. They want Aaron Glenn gone. They want Glenn to be fired. And after what unfolded, it’s easy to understand why.

This wasn’t a competitive NFL game. It barely resembled what one might call an "NFL game." The Patriots scored a touchdown on every offensive drive before pulling Drake Maye midway through the third quarter because the outcome was beyond doubt.

Maye finished 19-of-21 for 256 yards and five touchdowns, with one of his two incompletions coming on a flat-out drop. New England averaged nearly eight yards per play. The Jets didn’t force a meaningful stop until the Patriots essentially waved the white flag.

This was a public humiliation, and while there are plenty of excuses to be made about the horrific personnel the Jets trotted out, an embarrassment of this magnitude ultimately falls on the coaching staff — and squarely on Glenn's shoulders.

This game looked less like an NFL matchup and more like Ohio State versus UMass. At times, it felt closer to a high school varsity team lining up against a group of 10-year-olds.

Yes, the Jets’ roster right now is dreadful, arguably one of the worst groups of 53 players this franchise has ever fielded. Yes, they are clearly prioritizing evaluation and draft position.

But tanking does not excuse looking as non-competitive as this. No professional football team should ever look this overmatched. Being within the realm of competitive shouldn’t be asking too much.

That reality brings everything back to Glenn. The Jets have won three games this season, largely on the back of special teams. The defense has been one of the worst units the league has seen in years. The offense has been broken, largely due to inept quarterback play for much of the season.

Very few players look better now than they did last year. So the question fans are asking is simple. What competitive advantage has Glenn provided? The answer, right now, is none.

To be clear, Glenn is still likely back in 2026 unless a truly elite head coach, someone like John Harbaugh or Mike Tomlin, unexpectedly becomes available. But the optimism surrounding this staff has evaporated.

The Jets didn’t need wins down the stretch. They needed signs of life. Instead, they delivered one of the most pathetic performances in franchise history. With one game left against the Bills, Jets fans are begging for the season to end, and Glenn’s seat is far hotter than anyone imagined after Year 1.
