Jets' dream Breece Hall replacement reminds them why he'll never be available

New York Jets GM Darren Mougey is likely watching Super Bowl LX between the Seattle Seahawks and New England Patriots with the thought of identifying players who could be enticed to switch teams in free agency if offered a boatload of cash. One such player is Seahawks running back Kenneth Walker III.

While the Jets could run things back with Breece Hall due to how effective he has been in his career, Hall's seeming desire to move on from New York could force the Jets to look for alternatives. With Walker also hitting free agency, he seems like the best possible option.

However, Walker's price tag is going up with every yard he gains in the Super Bowl. In a game where Sam Darnold is once again seeing ghosts against the Patriots, Walker's ability to grind out tough yards has helped him already go over 90 yards on the ground in the first half.

If he keeps this up, the Jets may not get the chance to sign Walker. It seems like he will either be locked in as a Seahawk for the rest of his prime or play himself into such a big contract that he is deemed too expensive for New York.

Kenneth Walker III may not come to Jets after Super Bowl LX

Hitting Hall with the franchise tag would not only pay him like an elite running back when he may be just a hair or two below that tier, but it would also mean keeping another Robert Saleh holdover as Aaron Glenn tries his best to improve the culture he inherited.

With Zach Charbonnet recovering from an injury that knocked him out of the playoffs, Walker has needed to step up to prove his value to the offense. He has responded in the best way possible, and the rest of the league has certainly taken notice.

If the Jets decide that they don't want to move forward with Hall, yet still want a big-name running back to fit in with Glenn's established philosophy of dominating via the ground game on offense, look for Jacksonville's Travis Etienne or Carolina's Rico Dowdle to possibly emerge as alternatives to Walker.

Walker is quickly becoming the next in a line of great Seahawks running backs. With the Hall situation far from settled, Jets fans may need to get over the idea of Walker riding in on a white horse and suddenly fixing everything.
