The New York Jets, at the No. 2 overall pick, have plenty of options available to them. There isn't really a league-wide consensus on who the next best player in the 2026 NFL Draft is, as much as Ohio State's Arvell Reese has been mocked to them in that spot.
When Oregon's Dante Moore decided not to declare for the draft, it closed a couple of doors for the Jets. Not only did they lose out on a pretty good quarterback prospect, but it shut off almost any possibility of the Jets being able to find a trade partner to move off their pick.
Or did it?
In the weeks following the NFL Scouting Combine, there's been a lot of buzz surrounding Notre Dame running back Jeremiyah Love, and the interest he's drumming up from teams around the league. Could the Jets find a trade partner thanks to the Heisman Trophy finalist?
Jets could look to trade back thanks to Jeremiyah Love
In early March, NFL Network's Cameron Wolfe reported that he heard from multiple league executives that Love is considered "the best player in this draft" and that no one should be surprised if he ends up getting taken with a top-five pick.
Love has already taken a visit with the New York Giants, who hold the No. 5 pick in April's draft. Heck, even the most recent mock draft from Pro Football Focus has the Tennessee Titans trading up with the Jets for the right to draft Love.
That deal would be a home run in real life for New York. The Jets would get the Titans' first-round pick, second-round pick, and fourth-round pick, giving them a third selection in the second round.
Regardless, the more interest there is in Love, the better it is for the Jets. There could be a team that isn't picking in the top five that wants to jump both the Giants and the Titans for the Notre Dame running back, and would be willing to send a package to New York that includes an extra first-round pick.
Much has been made about the 2027 draft class and how elite it could be, given all the talent that's projected to declare. Could the Jets find a way to land themselves a fourth first-round pick next year?
The chances aren't zero, but the key to any extra assets for New York in April certainly lies in the hands of Love and his draft stock.
