In their second year under Darren Mougey and Aaron Glenn, they made it a priority to add more talent to the offensive side of the ball. While we need to see how they look on the field, on paper, the offense looks massively improved.
ESPN's Bill Barnwell released an article in which he ranked the WR, RB, and TE groups for all 32 teams in the league. In that piece, New York ranked 12th, which is an improvement from 27th in 2025. And when you consider how bad a Jets offense has been in recent memory, this should give fans some excitement going into the campaign.
This Jets offseason shift could pay off sooner than expected
Over the past two offseasons, the Jets extended receiver Garrett Wilson and running back Breece Hall. Both players were from the 2022 draft class and have produced consistently despite being in less-than-ideal situations.
Teams would double-team Wilson and stack the box against Hall to slow down New York's offense, but that won't be the case in 2026. In the first round of the 2026 NFL draft, the Jets snagged tight end Kenyon Sadiq, then receiver Omar Cooper Jr.
Sadiq is an athletic freak who will provide some mismatches due to his size and speed. Meanwhile, Cooper Jr. is an inside-outside weapon who can thrive after the catch. The Jets also have AD Mitchell in the fold from the trade with the Indianapolis Colts, and he's been a standout through the offseason thus far.
And the most underrated player in all of this is tight end Mason Taylor. Many fans have seemed to forget about him due to the addition of Sadiq, but he's going to have a role within this offense. As a rookie, he reeled in 44 balls for 369 receiving yards and one touchdown. He was also a solid run blocker, and that should be an area he excels at in 2026.
The Jets are still searching for their long-term answer at quarterback, but that will likely come via the 2027 NFL Draft since they own three first-round picks. Geno Smith seems like an ideal stopgap for this team and will surely spread the ball around the yard.
For a team that ranked 29th in total offense (263.6) and scoring offense (17.6) in 2025, they made sure to add that side of the ball, and people are taking notice of it. Barnwell believes they have the third-best WR-RB-TE combination in the AFC, and that is just another example of how much they have improved this offseason. For the first time in a long time, the Jets have a nice infrastructure of playmakers.
