This just can't be.

The New York Jets don't have a lot of things going for them, but one thing you can certainly say is they look good on Sundays, particularly thanks to their recent uniform update.

Entering the 2024 regular season, the team announced a switch to its "Legacy Collection," adopting a look that closely resembles the design they wore from 1978 to 1997.

It's become widely popular among fans, and that's not even including some of the other alternates they have. The all-black designs have been a recent favorite, and "the classic" that copies the uniforms they wore from 1998 to 2018.

Despite the relatively well-liked jerseys, it seems the national consensus is disconnected from Jets fans, as they were ranked one of the lowest in a recent list.

Jets near bottom of the league in Sports Illustrated uniform rankings

Sports Illustrated's Mike Kadlick ranked every NFL team's uniforms from worst to best ahead of the 2026 season, and the Jets came in shockingly low at 31, with the Los Angeles Rams listed as the only team with a worse look.

"The Jets’ all-white throwback uniforms may be their best look, as it reminds us of a time when football was flourishing in New York, circa 1998 to 2010, when the club made the playoffs seven times in 13 seasons and consistently competed in the AFC. Outside of these, their Rivalries kits are just O.K, and their 'Legacy Collection' is littered with Gotham Green and a logo that got the franchise sued for copyright infringement."

In fairness to Kadlick, he does concede that the throwback uniforms are the team's current best look, something a lot of fans would surely agree with.

The only change these classic uniforms have from their old-school counterparts is the grey face bar, which is a reference to the helmets the team wore during their 1969 Super Bowl victory.

Say what you want about the "Rivalries" uniforms, which Nike introduced this past year. Some fans surely love the gothic look, but it's not for everybody.

All this to say, the Jets deserve a little more love for their current wardrobe. It's pretty much the only thing they've had going for them over the last two tumultuous seasons.
