The NY Jets don't have much to play for over the final three games of the 2024 season, but star running back Breece Hall is still determined to be on the field with his teammates.
Hall has been dealing with an injury to his surgically repaired knee since the team's Week 11 loss to the Indianapolis Colts. The former second-round pick was able to play in Week 13 following the Jets' bye week, but it was evident that he wasn't fully healthy.
Hall would subsequently miss Week 14 before returning the following week, although he played a season-low 48 percent of snaps. There was even talk about the Jets shutting Hall down for the remainder of the 2024 season.
Hall told reporters on Friday that he had discussions with the team about being shut down for the rest of the year, but he wasn't interested. He explained his decision as a personal choice.
"We got older guys on the team. If they're able to come out here and play, why can't I play? I don't want to be selfish and not play for the team if everybody else is playing. Guys have made a commitment."Breece Hall
Is Breece Hall playing today?
Not only is Hall playing in today's game, but he is off the Jets injury report entirely ahead of their Week 16 game against the Rams. Hall was a full participant in practice all week and is off the injury report for the first time since Week 10.
While Hall is off the injury report, the Jets' two rookie running backs are on it. Braelon Allen is listed as questionable with a back injury while Isaiah Davis was limited in practice on Wednesday and Thursday with a back injury of his own but does not have an injury designation for today's game.
Allen exited the Jets' Week 15 game against the Jacksonville Jaguars with his injury and was limited in practice on Wednesday and Thursday. The fact that he was a full participant on Friday, however, suggests he's in line to play today.
It's difficult to predict the snap share each player will receive given that we haven't really seen all three healthy in a game since Davis was added to the rotation.
Davis was the beneficiary of Allen's injury last week, playing 24 snaps (41 percent) compared to just 28 (48 percent) for Hall. It will be interesting to see if the Jets continue to limit Hall's workload even though he's officially off the injury report for Week 16.
Either way, Hall remains a plus starter in all fantasy formats and should be in your starting lineup this week. The Jets and fantasy managers should feel confident with him in today's game.
