Is Breece Hall playing today? Latest injury update on NY Jets star RB
By Justin Fried
Breece Hall has been one of the few bright spots in an otherwise dismal season for the NY Jets. Despite Hall's slow start to the season, the former Iowa State star has caught fire as of late and has been one of the only working elements of the Jets' offense.
Hall is averaging 5.0 yards per carry over his last four games and is on pace for roughly 1,600 total scrimmage yards in 2024. Only eight players in the NFL have recorded more yards from scrimmage this season. Not bad for a "down year."
Unfortunately, Hall is dealing with a knee injury and is listed as questionable for the Jets' Week 13 game against the Seattle Seahawks. That's concerning news, both for the Jets and optimistic fantasy owners making a late-season playoff push.
Hall tweaked his knee in the Jets' Week 11 loss to the Indianapolis Colts and was held out of practice this past Wednesday despite having an extra week to recover as a result of his team's bye. But what is his status for today's game?
Is Breece Hall playing today?
Despite being listed as questionable, Hall is expected to play in today's Jets game against the Seahawks. Hall told reporters on Friday that he expects to play and all indications are that he will be good to go today.
The former second-round pick returned to practice in a limited capacity on Thursday before practicing fully on Friday. It would be a significant surprise if Hall were unable to play in today's game.
The Jets did raise a few eyebrows when they elevated running back Kene Nwangwu from the practice squad on Saturday. Nwangwu was actually teammates with Hall at Iowa State in 2019 and 2020 before being selected by the Minnesota Vikings in the fourth round of the 2022 NFL Draft.
While Nwangwu is technically listed as a running back, he's made much more of an impact in the NFL on special teams. The 26-year-old was named second-team All-Pro as a return specialist with the Vikings in 2022.
Nwangwu's elevation is likely bad news for rookie running back Isaiah Davis, who could be replaced on special teams and rendered a healthy scratch. Barring any unexpected setbacks, Hall is expected to be active and play without limitations in today's game.
