The wait is finally over. The madness has come to an end. Sanity has prevailed. NY Jets edge rusher Haason Reddick has officially ended his holdout, agreeing to terms on a reworked deal to remain with the organization.

ESPN's Adam Schefter reported Sunday morning that Reddick will report to the Jets and could make his debut as soon as next week's game against the New England Patriots. He may have missed out on over $10 million in total fines, but Reddick will have an opportunity to earn that money back/

Reddick will receive a base salary of roughly $8.8 million for the remainder of 2024 with a chance to earn back the $12 million in fines he has accrued through incentives. The current CBA does not allow teams to waive fines, so Reddick will need to earn that money back.

This comes a little over a week after Reddick was dropped by his previous agency, CAA, following numerous attempts to work out a deal. That appears to have been a wake-up call for the former All-Pro pass rusher.

New agent Drew Rosenhaus worked quickly to talk some sense into Reddick and get him back on a football field as soon as possible. Jets fans (and Reddick) should honestly be thanking Rosenhaus — he helped make this happen.

Haason Reddick provides a major boost to the NY Jets' defense

Despite putting the Jets through months of unnecessary drama with what has been referred to as one of the dumbest holdouts in NFL history, the organization will welcome him back with open arms. Rosenhaus even insists the two sides will remain in contact about a long-term extension in the future.

While that part seems unlikely to happen at this stage, the Jets could certainly use Reddick in 2024. The Jets' defense has taken a step back this season, and that's largely been due to the team's abysmal defensive line.

The Jets have essentially no pass-rush juice outside of Will McDonald and occasionally Quinnen Williams. Micheal Clemons has played nearly 60% of defensive snaps for the Jets this season. That's not a strategy conducive to winning.

Reddick gives the Jets a player who has recorded double-digit sacks in four straight seasons, easily giving the team their best overall pass rusher. That should help alleviate some of the attention from McDonald, who has frequently been doubled or chipped on passing downs.

The Jets are a significantly better football team with Reddick on their roster. The two sides will put aside the drama and bad blood for the sake of business.

The dumbest holdout in NFL history has finally come to an end. Haason Reddick is back, and the Jets are better off because of it.
