Garrett Wilson explodes on sidelines as Jets bad vibes continue to grow
By Mike Luciano
The NY Jets are already looking forward to 2025, but that doesn't mean that wide receiver Garrett Wilson is going to give up on the season. His passion for the game is obvious, though it can occasionally lead to some emotional outbursts on the sideline.
After the Jets' most recent touchdown drive attempt stalled out following an Aaron Rodgers sack, Wilson was seen on the sidelines screaming his head off. It took wide receivers coach Shawn Jefferson to calm down Wilson, who only has two catches today.
Wilson was seen going nuts on the sidelines after Rodgers was sacked on a critical third down, which led to a field goal. Wilson was seemingly mouthing that Rodgers should throw the fade if a receiver is matched up one-on-one instead of holding the ball for ages.
Garrett Wilson explodes on sidelines after frustrating Jets offensive showing
Wilson has done his part for the Jets this season, as he is near the top of the league in catches and appears to be well on his way to a third straight 1,000-yard season. Wilson has done this while splitting targets and attention with Davante Adams, who has been the main offensive focal point in this game.
Wilson has been public about his frustrations with the team's lack of winning, which was an oddly selfless move from a star wide receiver. However, Wilson wants to get his fair share of targets and responsibility, and he isn't going to get those targets if Rodgers keeps holding onto the ball.
The Jets did manage to rebound after this outburst, though it was mostly Adams' doing. Between a big play down the middle that brought the Jets inside the 10-yard line and a lovely tope-tap touchdown, Adams looked like the star he was back in his Green Bay days, at least for a drive.
Winning will alleviate all of Wilson's concerns, both in the short and long-term future. It's hard to blame Wilson, who will spend his third straight season at home watching the playoffs, for getting a bit perturbed about an offense that should be romping through this game struggling like this.
