Did Aaron Glenn subtly hint at the Jets' targeting Arvell Reese?

Could Glenn be referring to a certain Ohio State prospect here?

Before Aaron Glenn got into coaching, he was a scout, serving the New York Jets from 2012 to 2013 as a personnel evaluator.

It's helped him to have a better eye for latent talent in players, and he has a voice that general manager Darren Mougey leans on when making decisions regarding the Jets roster.

Heading into the 2026 NFL Draft, Glenn is certainly going to have a say about what players he wants to bring in to help him overhaul New York's poor defense, and it's almost a guarantee he knows what he's looking for in some of these incoming prospects.

The Jets need a pass rusher, and there are a couple of really good ones at the top of the 2026 class. Glenn was asked about what traits he looks for in prospects, and may have quietly revealed who the team will be targeting with the No. 2 pick.

Glenn may have sprinkled a few hints when talking with reporters at the league owners' meetings about who or what position the Jets may be targeting leading into the 2026 NFL Draft.

First, he emphasized flexibility and wants to search for players who can do a bit of everything on the defensive side of the ball. When pressed specifically on pass rushers, Glenn revealed what he looks for in players who come off the edge.

"The first thing is, man, the traits. Arm length, weight, speed, ankle flexion, like all those things that you're trying to look at. And then does he have the football character that allows himself to be coached, to be able to do those things? All those things have to be evaluated when you're looking at a guy like that."

Ohio State linebacker Arvell Reese stands at 6-foot-4 and weighs in at 241 pounds. He ran a 4.46 40-yard dash at the NFL Scouting Combine. It feels like Glenn is acknowledging the odds-on favorite to be the Jets' pick at No. 2 overall, no?

Reese is arguably the most flexible defender in the upcoming class, with the versatility to play on and off the ball. He's big, has speed, and while there was a lot to make about his "bend" at Ohio State's Pro Day, his athleticism will surely help him develop into an NFL player.

If anyone knows anything about NFL defenders, it's Glenn, who had a long playing career from 1994 to 2008. His experience in scouting and coaching will help the Jets' teambuilding process, and hopefully lead them to making the right draft picks come April.
