Big 10 coach reveals what makes potential Jets prospect Arvell Reese so incredible

They didn't have an answer for this guy at Ohio State.

As the pre-draft process rolls on, people start to nitpick players and prospects, and Ohio State defender Arvell Reese is no different.

It started at his Pro Day, when people claimed Reese didn't show enough "bend" during his workout. How could any team draft a projected edge rusher who can't get his body low enough to the ground?

But analysts were quick to point out how silly the discourse was on Reese. Don't get it twisted, this guy has the potential to be an All-Pro level defender, and has the ability to play multiple roles on defense.

But don't take it from me, take it from an opposing Big 10 coach who had to gameplan against the 6-foot-4, 240-pound menace.

Anonymous Big 10 coach raves about possible Jets target Arvell Reese

In Bruce Feldman's latest mock draft for The Athletic, he included comments from an anonymous Big 10 coach who had to face Reese at least once a year.

"This guy is an alien. And he’s clearly very smart because he’s doing so much for them. I think he’s incredible. I hope he goes somewhere that is going to be aggressive in how they use him. The same way as Mike Macdonald with (Nick) Emmanwori and Dallas was with Micah Parsons."

Clearly, people can't box Reese in as just a pass rusher; it seems like he's going to be able to play multiple spots on a defense and impact the game in more ways than just chasing the quarterback.

Even if the Buckeye doesn't reach the heights of, say, a Micah Parsons as an edge, Reese will still be a weapon on defense, and is one of those players who can do everything a defensive coordinator asks of him.

"I think this is the surest bet for future stardom in this draft. There’s a handful of other guys with really high ceilings; Reese not only has a sky-high ceiling but an extremely high floor, too. Point blank: Not even the Jets can screw this one up."
Bruce Feldman

Aside from the Jets' jab, the anonymous coach and Feldman's analysis of Reese should have fans buzzing and excited for April's draft to roll around.

As the days go by, it seems more and more likely that Reese is the obvious choice at No. 2 overall and will give New York the new defensive star it desperately needs.
