Davante Adams' expected NY Jets debut date officially revealed

When will he suit up for the Jets? It shouldn't be long.

Despite all of the whispers and rumors over the last couple of weeks, we all knew it would come to this, right? Aaron Rodgers and the New York Jets would not be denied.

They were always going to land Davante Adams in the end. And, that's exactly what the Jets did on Tuesday morning following their Monday Night Football loss to the Buffalo Bills.

It was the perfect way for a Jets fan to wake up after watching the team drop to 2-4 on the season. With plenty of time left to make a playoff run, the Jets made the move everybody expected them to make.

New York swapped a conditional third-round pick in exchange for Adams. That pick has the potential to become a second-rounder if certain conditions are met, and those conditions are fairly steep, all things considered. This was most certainly a win for the Jets.

Now, Adams still needs to pass a physical as all of the fine print must be accounted for. However, I don't think he'll have any problem doing that, even with the "hamstring injury" that's kept him out the last two games for the Raiders.

That's not discounting any injury (or maybe it is) and we're not going to try to assume what was actually going on with Adams' body, if anything, but ... it did seem a little suspicious.

Back to the topic at hand. Adams is a Jet, so when is he going to be on the field catching passes from Aaron Rodgers?

Not long after the deal, SNY's Connor Hughes let us know that it very well could be this coming Sunday night against the Pittsburgh Steelers.

Well, that escalated quickly. This is going to be a massive game against the Steelers, and Adams' arrival not only came at the right time but a pretty hilarious time, too.

Davante Adams' Jets debut could be insult to injury for the Steelers

Since Adams requested his trade out of Las Vegas, there were a few teams involved as potential landing spots. One of the teams that was confirmed to be in on Adams was, in fact, the Steelers.

With Pittsburgh missing out on the deal, they'll now likely also have to face him in his first game with the Jets. It truly couldn't be any more poetic than it already is, and I'm sure Rodgers and the Jets wouldn't have it any other way.

This game against the Steelers could set the tone for the rest of the season. It's on the road, in prime time, and dropping to 2-5 would be nearly a death sentence for this team. That's not to say finishing 12-5 isn't mathematically possible, but is it all that likely? Hardly.

The Jets need to win this game. They need to make a statement. Adams and Rodgers' connection should be on full display, right off the bat. I don't expect anything less.

It's going to be a fun ride.
