Breece Hall places blame for Packers loss squarely on the Jets offense

The New York Jets Week 2 loss to the Green Bay Packers was a brutal one, particularly due to the fact that it could have so easily been a win. But the Jets found a way to snatch defeat from the jaws of victory.

Boasting a 10-point lead in the fourth quarter, the Jets failed to get key stops on defense, convert enough third downs to put the game away on offense, and even blew a punt coverage that set the Packers up for a game-tying field goal.

Ask any Jets fan about the loss, and they'll tell you everybody gets a slice of the blame pie. Everyone from head coach Aaron Glenn to the players who couldn't make the key plays to close out the game should feel sick after letting this one slip through their fingers.

But ask running back Breece Hall who deserves the blame, and he'll tell you it was the offense that let the team down and cost them what could have been their first 2-0 start since the 2015 season.

Speaking with reporters in the aftermath of Sunday's loss, Hall solemnly pointed to the Jets' offense as the reason why they lost the game. Even if it's not 100% accurate, it's nice to see players taking accountability for the brutal loss.

"Especially for the offense, it hurts. I feel like we could've helped the defense out a little more, and showed them a little more love, and put a few more points on the board for them to be a little more comfortable."

Hall said that the defense put the offense in a position to win the game, referring to the offense failing to convert on third down with five minutes to go in the fourth quarter. Another first down would've let the Jets take even more time off the clock and maybe even put them in field goal range.

"The defense put us in a position to win the game and we got to figure out how to do that."

Hall himself had a fairly forgettable performance, but in fairness, his run blocking did him no favors. The recently extended running back managed only 29 yards on 16 carries, but hauled in five receptions for 63 yards, including a 43-yard catch-and-run off a screen pass.

The Jets' offensive operation was night and day from what we saw in Week 1 to Week 2, and Frank Reich has to figure out what went wrong against the Packers, ensuring that it doesn't happen again.
