The New York Jets are entering Year 2 of the Darren Mougey and Aaron Glenn regime, and there are still questions about whether or not the two are the right pair to turn the Jets around.

The 2025 season was an abject disaster for the Jets. What was supposed to be a respectable first year turned out to be a complete and total dud, culminating in a 3-14 season.

But after the additions New York has made this offseason, it's hard not to feel at least the tiniest shred of optimism with a reloaded roster and overhauled coaching staff.

Even running back Breece Hall, who has seen his fair share of ups and downs throughout his four-year career with the Jets, has optimism about the current regime being the decision makers to put the franchise back on the right track.

Breece Hall believes in Darren Mougey & Aaron Glenn's vision for the Jets

Speaking with the media for the first time since signing his new three-year, $45.75 million extension, Hall was asked what gave him the optimism to re-up with a team that hasn't had much success in recent history.

"Honestly, just the fact that they brought a proven veteran in, like Geno, and then we drafted some really good guys, and I'm still getting to know everybody too, so just seeing that let me know that okay, we're really trying to build something here. "

Hall has plenty of reason to be excited about having Geno Smith as his quarterback in 2026. Throughout his Jets tenure, New York hasn't had a consistent enough offense to take the onus off him in the run game.

With more competitive games, a clear threat to push the ball downfield, Hall should hope to see a lot fewer loaded boxes in 2026.

It also certainly helps Hall's confidence that Glenn is always placing his belief in his starting running back, maintaining throughout all of last season that he was his guy, and that they would find a way to keep him in New York.

"AG always telling me that I'm his guy...him always instilling that confidence or telling me that he has that confidence in me, and the confidence that I have in myself is very big, so it definitely meant a lot for me because they showed me and told me that they wanted me to be a part of this thing, so I'm definitely happy to be here."

We'll see if Hall's faith in Mougey and Glenn is well-placed during this upcoming season, because 2026 could end up being make or break for the current Jets' regime.
