After months of speculation, the New York Jets, led by first-time head coach Aaron Glenn and general manager Darren Mougey, selected Armand Membou in round one. The new regime could have gone in a few different directions, but they chose to fortify the offensive line.
The Jets' offensive line now features all five starters at the age of 27 or younger. One of the most exciting parts of the unit is with the addition of Membou, the Jets will roll out what should be their two bookend tackles for the next decade, with Olu Fashanu slotted in on the left side and Membou on the right.
After New York made the selection, head coach Aaron Glenn called Membou "nasty" and "tough" while noting it was a "no-brainer" for the Jets.
"He's mean, he's nasty, he's tough."

With the way the Jets have approached the offseason on offense, selecting Membou fits into exactly what Glenn and Mougey are building in Florham Park.
Armand Membou is the perfect fit for the NY Jets offense
Membou put together a very productive 2024 season in both pass protection and run blocking. The Missouri product finished the season allowing zero sacks and just eight pressures in 12 games played.
The 21-year-old was also just one of two offensive tackles to tally an 85 or better grade in both pass protection and run blocking. Membou finished the season with an 86.6 Pro Football Focus pass block grade and an 87.6 run blocking grade.
Membou also put on a show at the NFL Combine when he ran a 4.91 40-yard dash, which ranked first among all tackle prospects in this year's class. He was just the fifth 330+ pound player to run a sub-5.0 40-yard dash since 2003.
When the Jets signed Justin Fields, it marked a shift in the team's offensive identity. With Fields, a mobile quarterback paired with a talented running back room, the Jets will take a heavy ground-and-pound approach this season.
Membou fits the billing as a tackle who can both run and pass block at a very high level. His athleticism and physicality, where he has coined himself as a "mauler" in the run game, fit exactly what the Jets and Aaron Glenn are looking for.
New York wants to win in the trenches, this regime wants players who are going to play violently and fast. Glenn already sees similarities in Membou and Penei Sewell, describing their mentality and demeanor as being the same.
Another key piece to the Membou addition is if Fields wants to take another step as a passer, which the Jets think he can, having another talented young piece on the outside of the line helps out a ton.
Was Armand Membou the flashy pick? No. Was it the right pick for what the Jets are building? Yes.
