Absurd Garrett Wilson stat shows just how badly the Jets have failed their star WR

It's no secret that Garrett Wilson has been the New York Jets' best player over the last few years. Especially after his injury last season, the Jets' offense operated like they were in two different leagues when Wilson went down with a season-ending knee injury.

When the former Ohio State standout got banged up in Week 6 against the Denver Broncos, he was the Jets' leading receiver, and by the time the season came to a close, he still managed to record the most yards despite not catching a pass since October.

Now, was that an indictment on the Jets' quarterback situation? Maybe it's a testament to just how poor Wilson's running mates were during the 2025 season.

But rest assured, nothing will make a Jets fan angrier than the statistic Jets X Factor's Michael Nania unearthed about Wilson's tenure in New York.

Garrett Wilson's most productive Jets teammate has been... Allen Lazard

Nania revealed in a post on X that throughout Wilson's Jets career, the player who has amassed the most receiving yards (other than himself) is Allen Lazard, who could be considered one of the worst free agent signings in franchise history.

"Since he was drafted, the Jets' second-leading WR is... Allen Lazard, with 911 yards. That's exactly 25% of Wilson's yardage in his career (3,644) . You can't judge this guy on his stats when he's dealt with having no complementary pieces AND bad QBing."

As Nania points out, it's hard to compare Wilson with the other top-of-the-line receivers around the league because of how low his career statistical output is.

It's truly no fault of his own; in fact, it's more a testament to his skill that he was able to put up three 1,000-yard seasons to start his career playing with the likes of Zach Wilson, Mike White, and other journeymen quarterbacks like Joe Flacco and Aaron Rodgers.

The good news is: Wilson hopefully won't have to worry about Lazard being his best running mate any longer. This offseason, the Jets' offense has taken a major step forward when it comes to their offensive supporting cast.

At wide receiver, the Jets feel like they have the most depth they've had in years, with Adonai Mitchell, Omar Cooper Jr. and Tim Patrick backing up Wilson.

New York has tight ends that will attract attention from opposing defenses in rookie Kenyon Sadiq and second-year player Mason Taylor.

Hopefully, one of these aforementioned players will be able to free up Wilson from double- and triple-teams on a down-to-down basis and overtake Lazard as his most productive Jets teammate.
