The NY Jets finally saw what this team was supposed to look like in their 21-13 win over the Houston Texans in Week 9. Aaron Rodgers and the offense looked the part, with Davante Adams and Garrett Wilson each topping 90 receiving yards. The defense held a talented Texans offense to just 13 points.
It was the most complete performance by a Jets team this season, and heading into today's Week 10 matchup with the Arizona Cardinals, Rodgers and the Jets are hoping to win their second straight game and keep their postseason hopes alive.
Rodgers has begun to find his groove a little in recent weeks. The four-time MVP has thrown multiple touchdown passes in four of his last five games and has five touchdowns and zero interceptions in his last two games combined.
He will have every opportunity to continue his hot streak against a shaky Cardinals defense today. This could be a big Rodgers game.
NY Jets should lean on Aaron Rodgers in Cardinals game today
The Cardinals enter this game riding a three-game winning streak and find themselves atop the NFC West with a 5-4 record. But for as explosive as Kyler Murray and the Cardinals' offense has been, their defense has had its share of ups and downs.
Arizona has allowed 27+ points in two of its last three games and allowed 42 points in a game against the Washington Commanders in late September. The Cardinals have allowed 34+ points on three separate occasions this year, which is promising news for a Jets offense that hasn't topped 24 points in a game in 2024.
That could change this week. The Cardinals have allowed the sixth-highest completion percentage this season and have a bottom-10 pass defense in the NFL. Only the Carolina Panthers and Jacksonville Jaguars have allowed a higher first-down percentage on passing plays than the Cardinals.
Rodgers has also battled multiple injuries this season, but the extra 10 days of rest the Jets had between their last game and today's game afforded him additional time to heal. He told reporters this week that this is the healthiest he's felt in a while.
Garrett Wilson has broken out in recent weeks and has emerged as one of the NFL's most productive receivers. Davante Adams finally found his footing in the Jets' offense against the Texans, rekindling the magic he captured for years in Green Bay with Rodgers as his QB.
Combine Rodgers' recent uptick in production with his newfound health and a struggling Cardinals secondary and you have a recipe for what could be his best game of the season.
All signs point to a vintage Aaron Rodgers performance later today against the Cardinals as the Jets look to keep their longshot playoff hopes alive for another week.
