The football world was shocked to find out on Tuesday night that Texas Tech quarterback Brendan Sorsby would be applying to enter the NFL Supplemental Draft. NFL Network's Tom Pelissero was first to report on the news.
Sorsby had received an injunction from a judge in Lubbock County, Texas, granting him eligibility for the 2026 season. Initially, the Red Raiders quarterback had lost his eligibility amid a scandal surrounding his sports betting.
In response to the injunction, the Big 12 and Texas Tech's 2026 opponents filed their own lawsuits, seeking further repercussions than just a two-game suspension. Sorsby, rather than fighting for more legal battles, is now making the leap to the NFL.
The controversial quarterback has been linked to every team that doesn't have a franchise quarterback, including the New York Jets. Will the Green & White make a bid on Sorsby?
Aaron Glenn responds to Brendan Sorsby question with non-answer
Speaking with reporters on Tuesday, Glenn was asked about the latest update on Sorsby and whether or not the Jets will have interest in him ahead of the supplemental draft.
"I'm going to focus on the guys that we have here now. And that's something that I'm sure me and Moog (Darren Mougey) will talk about. But, listen, I got the quarterbacks here that we're focused on right now."Aaron Glenn
In a follow-up question, Glenn was asked if his off-field problems would disqualify him as a prospect.
Glenn, instead of addressing the concerns head-on, said he didn't have enough information on the subject other than what he heard on television.
The Jets will be linked to Sorsby until the supplemental draft comes and goes, thanks in large part to their lack of a long-term plan at the quarterback position.
Sure, New York is on the prowl for their franchise quarterback. But should they really put all their eggs in the Sorsby basket?
The answer is likely not. The Jets have three first-round picks to play with in 2027, and they're more than likely to use at least one on a quarterback.
That quarterback they eventually land will have fewer off-the-field concerns than Sorsby does, and will certainly come with less baggage.
Glenn's coyness is likely due to the lack of background work he has personally done on the controversial college quarterback, but in reality, the Jets shouldn't even bother.
