It's not unreasonable to say New York Jets fans aren't exactly 100% confident in their head coach. Aaron Glenn has had several bright spots throughout his first 22 games on the job in New York, but the bad has most certainly outweighed the good.
Most recently, Glenn is back in Jets fans' favor. Riding a three-game losing streak into Week 5, New York showed up at home with a strong defensive outing against the AFC North-leading Cleveland Browns, who boasted a three-game winning streak themselves.
While the Jets' head coach may be in the good graces for the next couple of days, his next game against the New England Patriots could go a long way in giving people confidence that he is the right guy to turn this team around.
You see, the Jets aren't exactly known for winning road games in the AFC East. Particularly in Foxborough, Massachusetts. If Glenn can guide his team to a victory there, it would only be the sixth team Gang Green has pulled that off since 2002, or, in other words, the Patriots' dynasty era.
How big would a New York Jets win in New England be?
For the last 20-some odd years, New England has been a place where Jets fans' hopes and dreams go to die. There's been one or two great moments, but outside of that, nothing but heartbreak.
In the last 10 years, the Jets are 4-26 in AFC East games outside of MetLife Stadium. That's a sad, sad mark for a team that's been in the basement much longer than that, and the fastest way up those stairs is to start making your division rivals respect you by winning in their home stadiums.
If Glenn can find a way to lead his team into Gillette Stadium and come out with a win, it would go a long way in showing that this isn't the same old Jets and give the fanbase some more optimism about a turnaround.
New England Patriots seem beatable, especially with injuries
The 2026 Patriots have not looked like the team that won the AFC in 2025. Yes, they're coming off a complete and total beatdown on the Las Vegas Raiders this past week, but Drake Maye has not looked like his MVP-caliber self on a week-to-week basis, and they're dealing with injuries.
Left tackle Will Campbell suffered a knee sprain in the win over Las Vegas, and his status is cloudy. The Patriots have yet to release an injury report, but it seems unlikely he'll be ready to go in Week 6.
Running back TreVeyon Henderson was revealed to have a high-ankle sprain, via ESPN's Adam Schefter, and is likely out for "multiple weeks." He'll be out against the Jets.
All of this culminates in a real chance for the Jets to march up north and pull off a major upset. It could be the first signature win in the Glenn era.
