The Saleh era is over.

The NY Jets were unwilling to let head coach Robert Saleh see out the remainder of the 2024 season. After just five games with Aaron Rodgers at quarterback, Saleh, who had a 20-36 record in his four seasons at the helm in New York, has been relieved of his head coaching duties. Offensive coordinator Nathaniel Hackett, oddly, was not fired.

The Jets don't know if GM Joe Douglas or Rodgers will be back in 2024, but they seemed to believe that Saleh was no longer the right man for the job. The Jets will be back in the head coach market, as they will try to hire their first coach in over 20 years with a winning record.

The Jets will need to look far and wide to find their next great coach, as they can't waste the careers of one of the deepest rosters this team has had in years. These five coaches could finally be the one who turns the Jets around.

5 Robert Saleh replacements Jets must consider for next head coach

5. Jeff Ulbrich, Interim HC, New York Jets

Ulbrich, who is well-liked by players and well-regarded around the league due to his role in one of the league's best defenses, will get a 12-game audition to show Woody Johnson that he is the man for the job. While unlikely, Ulbrich might be good enough to put his own unique spin on this roster and turn it around.

4. Aaron Glenn, DC, Detroit Lions

Glenn, one of the best Jets defensive backs in franchise history, and Lions OC Ben Johnson will both be hot commodities in this coaching carousel. Glenn has earned rave reviews from Lions players, and he could poach some members from Detroit's well-respected offensive staff if the Jets hire him.

3. Todd Monken, OC, Baltimore Ravens

Monken, who has received head coaching interviews in the past after NFL (Tampa Bay) and collegiate (Georgia) success, has Lamar Jackson and the Ravens cooking on offense once again. After missing on Monken once before, the Jets could pair an aggressive, creative offensive with the still-effective Rodgers.

2. Bill Belichick, former HC, New England Patriots

This is not going to happen. Belichick would rather pour concrete than have anything to do with the Jets. However, Johnson likes to take big swings to keep the Jets in the limelight, and Belichick coaching Aaron Rodgers could be a sight to behold.

1. Mike Vrabel, former HC, Tennessee Titans

Vrabel may be a defensive coach, but he consistently willed the Titans to the playoffs despite a declining Ryan Tannehill at quarterback at the end of his career. Vrabel is a floor-raiser, and his record should be enough to earn the respect of a very particular coach like Rodgers.
