The New York Jets have completely upended their roster after a terrible 2025 season, but this group is far from being set in stone as far as the depth chart is concerned.

The Jets have many key starters locked in, but with secondary and tertiary roles at the top of the depth chart still very much undecided, OTAs could be the spot when many of these battles could end up being settled.

These five internal competitions will be waged long into the summer, and it could have an impact on the Jets' record.

5 training camp battles that could be heated at Jets OTAs

5. Kicker: Jason Sanders vs. Cade York

The combatants in this battle could change a few days from now, as the Jets have already booted struggling specialists like Lenny Kreig and Younghoe Koo out of town. Sanders, who missed all of 2025 with a hip injury, and York, who has been very inconsistent, are the uninspiring top two choices to replace the ultra-accurate Nick Folk.

4. FS: Andre Cisco vs. Dane Belton vs. Malachi Moore

Minkah Fitzpatrick has one of the two starting spots locked down, and there are reasons to lean on any one of the three top candidates for the second safety role. Cisco is the experienced veteran, Belton is the hard-hitting physical player, and Moore is the ascending young turnover generator. Which flavor will appeal to Aaron Glenn?

3. WR2: Adonai Mitchell vs. Omar Cooper Jr.

Not only does Frank Reich need to figure out how to get both Kenyon Sadiq and Mason Taylor targets, but he needs to balance Mitchell and Cooper's development at the same time. Mitchell has already developed quite the connection with Geno Smith at OTAs, while Cooper is a fan favorite top pick who needs targets.

2. CB2: Nahshon Wright vs. Azareye'h Thomas

Wright, who is the ultimate wild card at corner after allowing eight touchdowns while intercepting five passes in 2025, has reportedly been working with the starters at OTAs. Thomas entering his second season as a backup, especially after the Sauce Gardner trade, would be a less-than-ideal development for one of Mougey's top picks.

1. QB2: Cade Klubnik vs. Bailey Zappe

There's no doubt who fans want to win this battle. Klubnik has been up and down at OTAs, which is to be expected for a fourth-round rookie learning his way in the pros. Zappe's experience must not be discounted, however, especially now that Russell Wilson has retired and veteran replacements are fairly thin on the ground.
