The New York Jets are looking toward the future, specifically the 2027 NFL Draft, in which they possess three first-round picks. Landing a franchise quarterback is the top priority, but this front office will also be keen to land a few long-term starters on the defensive line and in the secondary.
With the No. 3 pick in FanSided's most recent NFL Mock Draft, the Jets are selecting Oregon quarterback Dante Moore just one year after he went back to college amid rumors the Jets were eyeing him at No. 2 overall. Darren Mougey kept improving the defense by adding some young prospects with star potential.
With the No. 11 pick, which originally belonged to the Indianapolis Colts, the Jets will use one of the Sauce Gardner trade picks to get a long-term cornerback starter in Georgia's Ellis Robinson IV. With the No. 17 pick, originally that of the Dallas Cowboys, here comes a long-term starting partner for No. 2 pick David Bailey in Arkansas edge rusher Quincy Rhodes Jr.
Jets land Dante Moore, 2 defensive players in 2027 NFL Mock Draft
Not only would Moore have assuredly been the pick at No. 2 overall if he had declared for the Draft last season, but he is still fighting with names like Arch Manning for the venerable title of QB1 in 2026. Moore's accuracy from the pocket, arm talent, and turnover avoidance are exemplary, and those traits will appeal to Mougey.
Robinson is the next man up as a starting cornerback for a Bulldogs team that seemingly sends half of their starting defense to the pros every year. Even though he is a bit small for an outside cornerback at 180 pounds, the second-team All-SEC corner is still primed for a year in which he could challenge Notre Dame's Leonard Moore for the CB1 title.
Rhodes was viewed as a Day 2 pick in the 2026 cycle, and he wisely returned to school to improve his stock. With a ridiculous 78-inch wingspan and a nearly 280-pound frame, Rhodes profiles as a gargantuan edge-setter who will pair nicely with a smaller speed threat in Bailey. Rhodes' style could be the yin to Bailey's yang.
While this regime will fail if they can't get the quarterback settled, landing two more starters on defense in addition to a player with a very high ceiling in Moore might be what finally can get this big ship to turn quickly and start winning games.
