2026 NFL Draft trade proposal lands Jets 4 first-round picks in 2027

It's all about the future in New York.

Darren Mougey has said that the New York Jets are open to trading back in the 2026 NFL Draft, but the problem is, there aren't many teams out there who seem willing to make a move all the way up to No. 2.

Sure, Ohio State's Arvell Reese seems to be the pick of the litter when it comes to the pass rushers, but it's not like he's forcing the Las Vegas Raiders to rethink their selection of Ohio State's Fernando Mendoza.

Texas Tech's David Bailey likely has the highest floor of all the top pass rushers and could be garnering interest from around the league. He recently met with the Dallas Cowboys as part of a pre-draft visit.

Did Dallas fall in love with the prospect during workouts and meetings? Could he be a good enough player to warrant the Cowboys moving close to the top of the draft to secure him?

Bill Barnwell's trade idea sees Jets land extra first-rounder in 2027

In a trade idea proposed by ESPN's Bill Barnwell, the Cowboys pull the trigger on a deal with the Jets that sends a package of draft capital, including their first-round pick in 2027 that doesn't already belong to New York, thanks to the Quinnen Williams trade.

The trade moves the Jets back 10 spots, picking at No. 12 instead of No. 2, and gives them an extra fourth-round pick in 2026. It's a steep drop, but landing the fourth first-rounder could do wonders for New York, which is trying its best to land a franchise quarterback.

"Mougey would be loading up on picks in a 2027 draft that is widely believed to be more talented and more impactful than the 2026 class, especially on the offensive side of the ball. Dropping down from No. 2 to No. 12 would hurt, but the Jets' GM would still have pick Nos. 12, 16, 33, 44, 103 and 112 in this year's draft, which should hand coach Aaron Glenn meaningful talent as he works on rebuilding a dismal defense."

2027 would be the first time the Jets had four first-round picks since the 2000 NFL Draft, when they picked up Shaun Ellis, John Abraham, Chad Pennington, and Anthony Becht all in the same round.
That draft did wonders for the Jets organization. They made the playoffs six out of 10 years from 2000 to 2010.

It remains to be seen just how invested the Cowboys really are in drafting a guy like Bailey, and if they would be willing to fork over the only other first-rounder they have in the 2027 NFL Draft.
