The New York Jets received some great news on Tuesday morning regarding their Pro Bowl LB CJ Mosley. Here are all the details ahead of Week 2 vs Cleveland.
The New York Jets were rocking and rolling with a 16-0 lead vs the Buffalo Bills in Week 1 when CJ Mosley went down with a groin injury.
He was ruled out for the game and it’s no coincidence that the Jets defense folded as soon as he left the game and ended up losing 17-16.
After a murky response from Jets head coach Adam Gase after the game, fans feared the worst.
Although on Tuesday morning, Ralph Vacchiano of SNY shared some good news looking ahead towards Week 2 vs the Cleveland Browns on Monday Night Football:
“Mosley’s groin injury that he sustained in the third quarter doesn’t seem to be anything serious, and the Jets expect him to play on Monday.”
The extra day of rest will certainly help his cause as he prepares for a primetime game vs a former AFC North brethren.
This is HUGE news because the Jets looked lifeless with Mosley out of the game.
How lifeless? ESPN’s Rich Cimini shared this interesting nugget via Twitter:
- With him on the field: 9 series, 45 plays, 214 net yards, 3 points allowed.
- Without him: 3 series, 19 plays, 170 yards, 14 points.
During the preseason the Jets lost inside linebacker Avery Williamson for the season. From negative to positive news, it does seem the Jets found an absolute gem in the fifth round out of Minnesota at linebacker in Blake Cashman.
If the Jets are going to avoid an 0-2 hole to start the season they’re going to need all hands on deck.
The next opponent for the green and white is the hyped up Cleveland Browns. Despite the wind being taken out of the sails in a Week 1 blowout loss to the Tennessee Titans (43-13), this is an extremely talented offensive team.
Baker Mayfield, Odell Beckham Jr, Jarvis Landry, David Njoku, and Nick Chubb to name a few. If the Jets don’t have CJ ready for this one, it could be a long day for the boys in green.
