With the first week of organized team activities in the books for the New York Jets, quarterback Teddy Bridgewater had some good comments about rookie Sam Darnold and his early expectations.

Organized team activities are already underway across the NFL with the New York Jets completing their first week. It was a time for rookies, veterans, and the coaching staff to get together to do some light drills and get a feel for all the new faces ready to compete. For quarterback Teddy Bridgewater, it’s all about redemption and also being a part of something special brewing at One Jets Drive.

Bridgewater, by the looks of it so far, is looking sharp in OTAs. He might even surprise many this summer and earn the starting quarterback job for the Jets. As of now though, he’s slowly getting back into resuming football activities and will likely be a full participant in training camp if everything falls into place.

Darnold, on the other hand, is still getting his feet wet as he has a long journey ahead. The good news is he has a great work ethic and asks a lot of questions. It’s a great recipe towards success as even Bridgewater likes what he sees so far in Darnold.

In an article written by Rich Cimini of ESPN, here is what Bridgewater said about Darnold, what he brings to the table, and what could be on the horizon:

“I’m no talent-evaluator; I’m just a quarterback. I’d say that this guy comes to work every day. He has his hard hat on, he’s focused, he’s sitting in those meeting rooms and he’s taking notes. He seems like a guy who’s ready to do some great things in this league.”

That’s a great compliment to hear from a veteran quarterback like Bridgewater. Darnold is already making some great impressions on his teammates and the New York media as this is the start of great things to come.

By the looks of it, the quarterback competition of the Jets this upcoming summer looks to be a great one. While it remains to be seen what the final depth chart will look like at quarterback, it will be entertaining to see if Darnold can surprise many and earn starting duties as early as his rookie year.
