The top-five selling jerseys of the 2018 NFL Draft has been released and New York Jets quarterback Sam Darnold is at No. 3.

Whenever a rookie player gets drafted that has the chance to be a generational player, their jersey tends to fly off the shelves. Such is the case with several members of the 2018 NFL Draft class. Several popular players that just got drafted into the pros are already having their jerseys sell like hotcakes. Such is the case with newly drafted quarterback, Sam Darnold of the New York Jets.

In an article written by Kyle Newport of Bleacher Report, he confirmed the top-five selling jerseys right after this year’s draft was in the books. Darnold landed No. 3 on the list which isn’t surprising at all.

Considered the No. 1 quarterback out of the Big 4 in this year’s draft class, it was surprising to see Darnold not end up being the first overall pick. The Browns opted to go with quarterback Baker Mayfield instead which shook up the entire draft order. Once these top-ten picks were in the books, fans undoubtedly hit stores and online sites to be among the first to pre-order their jersey once teams decided their official number.

More from The Jet Press

Speaking of the other players that hit the top-five in jersey sales, running back Saquon Barkley of the New York Giants landed at No. 1, Mayfield at No. 2, quarterback Josh Rosen of the Arizona Cardinals at No. 4 and linebacker Shaquem Griffin at No. 5. Each player has had much success in their respective colleges and even some incredible stories as they transition into the pros.

Already the talk of New York, Darnold has already had numerous interviews and press conferences as so far, he’s saying and doing all the right things as he develops into the future franchise quarterback of the Jets. It’s unsure as to when he’ll officially start but fans are already excited and hopeful that he can be “the guy” under center once his number is eventually called.

Overall, it’s great to see Darnold not only be among the top jerseys sold after this year’s draft but when the regular season finally rolls around, so many fans will likely be sporting No. 14 by the masses in MetLife Stadium.
