Heading into Week 12 fantasy football, it’s best to sit rookie running back Elijah McGuire of the New York Jets as he goes up against the Carolina Panthers.

When it comes to the running back situation of the New York Jets heading into their Week 12 matchup against the Carolina Panthers, things will once again be different. Running back Matt Forte is, unfortunately, dealing with a severe knee injury and while that opens things up for Bilal Powell to start, it might still keep rookie Elijah McGuire on the outside looking in. What should fantasy football owners expect out of McGuire this week?

Unfortunately, McGuire just isn’t viable enough to consider giving a starting spot to. Yes, he’s a very talented running back that should have a bright future with the Jets but when it comes to his fantasy football value, it leaves much to the imagination.

In Week 10 against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, McGuire totaled just 22 rushing yards on eight attempts. He didn’t score a touchdown and as a matter of fact, hasn’t scored one since Week 4 against the Jacksonville Jaguars.

More from Jets Fantasy Football

Fantasy football owners would be wise to sit McGuire this week since he’ll more than likely be used in a relief role for Powell and Forte if he even ends up playing on Sunday. Forte has already missed practice this week as he will more than likely either be out for this Week 12 matchup or listed as questionable which means he might see action in a limited role.

Considering how inconsistent the offense of the Jets has been, they’ll more than likely stick with putting the football in the hands of those they know can get the job done. McGuire is still a rookie with a long way to go before he’s ready to reach the status of starting material.

Overall, sit McGuire this week since it’s expected Powell will more than likely start on Sunday and be given the majority of reps at running back. McGuire will see some action but it’s just not worth it this deep into the fantasy football season.
