Heading into Week 12 fantasy football, running back Matt Forte of the New York Jets is a safe sit against the Carolina Panthers.

When it comes to running back Matt Forte and his tenure so far with the New York Jets, it has a few flashes of brilliance but the majority being defined by injuries and a decline of play. Unfortunately for Forte, injuries and age are catching up to him which is not only limiting his ability to play football but also causing a major decline in his fantasy football value.

Fantasy football owners would be wise to not even consider starting him in Week 12 action against the Carolina Panthers since not only has he been unable to practice so far this week, but things aren’t looking so good for him.

As per the Media Relations Department of the Jets, Forte missed practice this past Wednesday due to a severe knee injury. This is after the Jets had off in Week 11 due to their bye which means his likelihood to play, let alone start on Sunday, is questionable at best.

In the grand scheme of things, it’s best to sit Forte against the Panthers since he probably won’t practice again this week and will either be questionable or out for Week 12. Considering that Forte was also out in Week 10 against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, means his starting spot is in jeopardy at this point in time.

With Bilal Powell starting this week, if he can continue playing well both on the ground and as an eligible receiver out of the backfield, it could very well mean Forte will be seeing more of the bench rather than being on the gridiron. Rookie running back Elijah McGuire is also in a good situation now and should see increased reps coming his way due to Forte either being in limited action or just not playing at all on Sunday.

START OR SIT?: Fantasy Pros Start or Sit Assistant Tool

Sit Forte and consider finding another viable replacement at running back if you’re in need of one for Week 12 fantasy football. Forte isn’t worth starting at all and since he’s been injury prone yet again this season for the Jets, probably isn’t worth stashing anymore on your roster if you’ve owned him for a while.
