Heading into Week 12 fantasy football, quarterback Josh McCown of the New York Jets is a safe sit against the defense of the Carolina Panthers.

In Week 11, the New York Jets got a much-needed bye week to help realign themselves for their final six games of the season. At this point in time, they’re 4-6 and believe it or not, still have a shot at making the NFL Playoffs as they’re just one game out of the AFC Wild Card spot. It won’t be easy but just like head coach Todd Bowles preaches, the Jets must take things one week at a time. Should fantasy football owners trust quarterback Josh McCown to get the job done in Week 12 action against the Carolina Panthers?

In the grand scheme of things, it’s best to sit McCown since the Jets are a football version of Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde. In Week 9, the Jets looked like a playoff contender against the Buffalo Bills but in Week 10, came crashing down to Earth after getting defeated by the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.

Yes, the Jets lost a football game against a Buccaneers team that didn’t even have Jameis Winston or Mike Evans playing. Due to this and well, the overall inconsistency on offense for the Jets, fantasy football owners would be wise to sit McCown this week.

There won’t be any big game or a hidden sleeper pick here since the defense of the Panthers will undoubtedly have a field day against McCown. The Jets also have a tendency to come out of a bye week and put up a dud, despite having a week off to rest up, fix their mistakes, and get inspired for the final stretch.

It’s best to sit McCown this week and use any other viable quarterback entering a favorable matchup. It’s highly unlikely the Jets win this game and if by some miracle they do, it’ll more than likely be thanks to their ground game getting the job done.

Sit McCown and don’t even think twice about it. He’s nowhere near worth starting this week, especially since he’s already starting to show his usual late-season decline.
