Head coach Todd Bowles of the New York Jets knows that his team is very much in the NFL Playoffs race. He gave his players a strong message after their bye week.

As the New York Jets finish their bye week, all eyes will be on what this team is truly made of as they enter their final slate of games this season. At this point in time, the Jets are 4-6 and bottom of the AFC East but are still just one game out of the AFC Wild Card spot.

Anything can happen in the NFL as the Jets got a week to rest up, get focused, and do their very best to come out the gates hot. Their next game is a Week 12 matchup at home against the Carolina Panthers. This will be a huge test and well, a measuring stick to see where this team is at and if they’re serious about making a playoff run.

As players and coaches returned from the bye week on Monday, head coach Todd Bowles wanted to send a strong message that was crystal clear to everyone in the organization. As always with Bowles, it’s about taking things one week and one game at a time.

Courtesy of the Media Relations Department of the Jets, here is what Bowles said to start the week:

On how he feels about the team’s current status with six games remaining…

We have six games to go. We control what we do. We take them one at a time, and we have to try to win them all.

On if he believes the team could have a good run at a playoff spot…

We believe we have to win them all and will let that take care of itself. We just have to win. We win, we take care of ourselves.

At the end of the day, the Jets have already overachieved and performed better than anyone’s wildest expectations. This team fights and they have the ability to go the distance if they focus on fixing all the little things.

If the Jets can clean up their penalties and focus on consistency in all aspects of the game, they should be able to take care of business and continue silencing their critics. For now, it all starts against the Panthers.
