The pick is in! With the No. 6 overall pick in the 2017 NFL Draft, the New York Jets have selected Jamal Adams to bolster their defensive secondary. For months now fans of the Jets have speculated what the franchise planned to do and all along, they knew Adams was the man to target to usher in a new era of the franchise.
Since the Jets are rebuilding, this was a smart pick that they can wisely build upon in the future. It’s hard to believe the Jets will field a competitive team this upcoming season due to how tough their schedule is, but now their defense should be able to at least be somewhat competitive.
It’s no secret that the Jets needed to get help bad in their defensive secondary, now with Adams in the mix, it will bring back aggression towards anyone holding the football. Last season, the Jets got torched by any quarterback they faced so this first round selection is exactly what the franchise needed.

In his collegiate career at LSU, Adams totaled 209 tackles, 18.0 tackles for loss, 2.0 sacks, and five interceptions. He’s a natural-born playmaker and a leader in the locker room.
Taking a look at some of his video highlights, Adams looks like he will be the real deal on a defense that needs to find an identity. If you’d like to check out his NFL Draft profile, please click here.
He will more than likely be a Week 1 starter considering how safety Calvin Pryor looks like he regressed last season.
