Enjoy your morning cup of coffee with the latest news and updates on the New York Jets. It actually would make sense to select quarterback Deshaun Watson in the 2017 NFL Draft.

Nothing beats a hot cup of coffee and the latest news on the New York Jets. The free agency frenzy is pretty much over as now, the majority of teams are focusing their resources on the 2017 NFL Draft. It’ll be here before we know it and well, it will be very interesting to see the direction the Jets take once they’re on the clock. Here’s the latest from top sources across the internet on Gang Green.

In an article written by Stephen Smith for NFL Spin Zone, he makes his case on why the Jets need to draft a franchise quarterback. In the grand scheme of things, he’s absolutely right. Now, it might make more sense for the Jets to use their No. 6 overall pick on an offensive lineman, defensive back, or perhaps on a versatile offensive weapon but the Jets still have one big question mark at quarterback. As always, it’s best to keep drafting quarterbacks until you find one worthy of leading a franchise towards major success. Deshaun Watson looks to be the real deal and if the Jets want to finally have someone that most analysts are predicting to be the next big thing in the NFL, it makes sense to draft him and build around him over the next few years.

In an article written by Nick Ziegler for Empire Writes Back, he breaks down a recent mock draft that has the Jets trading up in the first round to land yep, you guessed it, a quarterback. No, not Watson, but Mitch Trubisky this time around. It looks like the general consensus is that the Jets must undoubtedly head in the direction of drafting yet another quarterback since they missed out on possible free agent options at the position. Either way, it’s something that could very well happen to bring another option into the mix so the Jets can eventually see what they have in all their young quarterbacks over time.

More from The Jet Press

In an article written by John B for Gang Green Nation, he breaks down the upcoming visit by free agent fullback Zach Line. Since the Jets have uncertainty at quarterback, bringing in offensive players that can block well and help establish the run will help balance things out. Looks like Line is visiting the Jets this week and hopefully, will be one of those hidden free agent gems that can come right in and take care of business.

Finally, in an article written by Rich Cimini for ESPN, he breaks down the extensive efforts by the Jets to sign free agent linebacker Dont’a Hightower. Just like Cimini pointed out, it would be one shocker of a signing if the Jets are able to land him but who knows where Hightower will ultimately end up. It’s hard to believe he’d leave the New England Patriots for a team like the Jets that are years away from competing again but it looks like they’re willing to shell out the big bucks to acquire his services. Now it’s just a matter if Hightower wants the big payday or continue playing for a team that will be contending in the NFL Playoffs. It’s a hard decision to make but money isn’t always everything.
