Todd Bowles rebuilds Jets’ staff with emphasis on hiring teachers by Rich Cimini (ESPN)

Stump Mitchell, 57, was a terrific hire. He played the position and has coached it for 15 years, including the last four with the Cardinals. He and Bowles spent two seasons together in Arizona, so it should be a seamless transition.

Jets’ Brandon Marshall said what? Could be a method to his madness by Rich Cimini (ESPN)

Secondary Was Led by Unfamiliar Faces in ‘16 by Ethan Greenberg (New York Jets)

The Jets were victimized by the big play in Weeks 1-6, allowing five completions on attempts of 40 or more yards for 339 yards and 4 TDs, all league lows. But then over their next five games, the Jets defense allowed a single completion of 53 yards, no TDs and 1 INT on attempts of 40 or more yards.

Stump Mitchell Named Jets RBs Coach by Randy Lange (New York Jets)

Mitchell next moved to the Washington Redskins, where he held the titles of assistant head coach and running backs coach and helped Clinton Portis to 1,487 rushing yards and his second and last Pro Bowl appearance in 2008.

Jets Hosted CB Bene Benwikere For Visit, Could Be Candidate For Futures Deal by Nate Bouda (NFL Trade Rumors)

Benwikere, 25, is a former fifth-round pick of the Panthers back in 2014. He’s was in the third year of his four-year, $2.419 million contract and set to make a base salary of $600,000 for the 2016 season when the Panthers elected to cut him loose back in October.
