When it comes to Fantasy Football Week 8, wide receiver Brandon Marshall of the New York Jets serves as a must-start against the Cleveland Browns.

Star wide receiver Brandon Marshall of the New York Jets has had a lackluster 2016 season thus far. Marshall, who ranks as the 24th best receiver in standard fantasy football leagues, has 30 receptions for 472 yards and two touchdowns on the year.

This may not sound like WR1 stats but any wide receiver on any given NFL team is a WR1 in fantasy when playing against the Cleveland Browns secondary. Marshall has struggled over the last few weeks scoring a mere 10.9 fantasy points without a single touchdown.

However, his value this week has skyrocketed as the Browns secondary has given up 11-plus fantasy points to ten different wide receivers this year. This also includes games where Browns cornerback Joe Haden has been active, which he’s expected to be activated come this weekend.

Atrocious isn’t even the word to describe the Browns defense as they rank between 29th-31st in all defensive categories. They’re the 29th best defense in passing yards allowed per game with 287.5, 30th in points allowed per game with 29.6, and 31st in both yards allowed per game with 425.6 and rushing yards allowed with 139.9.

With Jets quarterback Geno Smith out with a torn ACL, Ryan Fitzpatrick will regain his spot as the starter moving forward (for now). One more red zone interception and we could be seeing Bryce Petty sooner than expected.

Despite the Jets ongoing quarterback situation, Fitzpatrick should torch the Browns through the air. Expect Marshall, as usual, to be Fitzpatrick’s main target heading into their Week 8 road matchup.

Start Marshall as a WR1 in Week 8 fantasy football, as the veteran wide receiver should have a field day against the 29th worst defense in the league against the pass.
