Heading into Week 7 Fantasy Football action, the defense/special teams of the New York Jets leaves much to the imagination.
When one thinks about the overall defense and special teams of the New York Jets, it’s as if you’re in a living nightmare. In almost every game so far this season, both units of the Jets have been inconsistent as they come. From blown assignments to a plethora of missed tackles, the fantasy football value of the D/ST of the Jets is one that should not only be benched this week but completely dropped from lineups everywhere.

The defense of the Jets can only be described as completely embarrassing. Their defensive secondary is one of the worst in the NFL as they can’t cover elite receivers for anything. They have also given up big yardage to opposing tight ends and well, when playing any quarterback, they tend to give up a plethora of big plays as if there is no tomorrow.
The special teams unit, the very same one that went through an overhaul this offseason, continues to add more to the famous mantra of “same old Jets” to the franchise. They haven’t scored a single special teams touchdown this season and are allowing opposing return specialists the ability to have great field positioning.
Special teams continue to be a major problem for the Jets with the exception of punter Lachlan Edwards. He’s been consistent and pinning opponents deep in their own territory. It’s a shame that the Jets’ defense can’t capitalize on everything he’s brought to the table.

Fantasy owners would be wise to bench the D/ST of the Jets this week. Whether or not quarterback Joe Flacco suits up this week doesn’t matter really.
The season of the Jets will continue heading in a downward spiral due to their lack of aggression and consistency from their defense and special teams.
What should have been one of the top defenses in the NFL can’t even generate a consistent pass rush. The Jets’ defensive line, loaded with talent, is being horribly misused.
To see one of the premier defensive ends in Sheldon Richardson be put in pass-rushing situations at linebacker shows just how desperate the Jets are to get something positive going on defense.

Overall, don’t start this abysmal D/ST in your fantasy lineups in Week 7. Owners could literally find the best D/ST available via the waiver wire and it’ll yield better fantasy points than this unit could ever dream of.
